The Tutorial

Submission for the Shovel Jam 2025 - Enjoy!

Fullscreen recommended! Press any key to advance text. All other controls are in-game.

Mechanics do NOT carry over to the next level, except for walking, jumping, and spikes.

If you can't move, mouse click into the game window so your computer recognizes that you are playing.

WARNING - There is an unintended softlock on screen 6 of level 10, DON'T fall into the leftmost pit.

This game was made in just 10 days, and includes 10 unique levels with a boss fight!

The basic concept of a game where you "just get started" (wink wink) was super interesting, especially when I had the idea to make each level include an all-new mechanic, sort of like a super quick medley of all the best platforming mechanics.

All art and code is by yours truly.

Lovely game. My favorite part was the grappling hook. Love the purple afterimage effect on it.

Really liked the art, and gameplay was also great. Good job!

Damn, I really liked it! But the cannon level was NOT a tutorial, it took me too many tries 😂

I love the kirby vibes, and all the art!

This was a really solid and fun experience! I liked it from start to finish - awesome work!

Wow, very clean, I love the bouncy, floaty and squeeshy feeling when you jump lol

Clean and well executed! I would have loved some more feedback from dying, some kind of sound indicator or "hit" animation. Overall, really well done!

Love it :D

Very cool!

Cool game, I like the art

Really cool, but I couldn't get past the tutorial.

This is lovely! great tutorialisazation but one note, I had to restart as the game skipped the tutorial where you need to cling to the walls and didn't see the keys required

A masterfully crafted tutorial. I tried to eat candies and spikes in real life, didn't work out that well for me

Great presentation, very nice art. Idea is cool too but i got stuck in the wall climbing level.

How did you get stuck?

Me too, because I couldn't figure out how to get to the next platform only by climbing
